Get to know... Marja Beks, CCO/COO

For the past year, Marja Beks has been part of Awaretrain. With her commercial talent and sparkling energy, she effortlessly bridges the gap between client needs and Awaretrain’s solutions. In this edition of ‘Get to know…’, she shares her story.

Who are you and where are you from?

My name’s Marja Beks, I’m 42 years old and I live in the charming village of Mierlo, in the Dutch province of Brabant. I live there with my husband and our two energetic and lively children, Thijs (12) and Fleur (10).

What’s your role at Awaretrain?

I’m responsible for overseeing Awaretrain’s core operational processes. My job is to make sure we’re heading in the right direction strategically and that our commercial goals align with that course. I do this by connecting the various teams within Awaretrain and ensuring that collaboration flows smoothly across the board. True success only happens when you work well together. That also means leading by example, supporting the team, and helping everyone bring their best selves to work with energy and enthusiasm.

How did you end up at Awaretrain?

A good friend of mine introduced me to Dennie, Awaretrain’s founder, last year. From our very first meeting, there was a strong connection and we saw lots of opportunities for me to bring my experience and skills to the table. I’m still really happy I made the decision to join, it’s been a fantastic move.

What do you enjoy about your role and the industry?

It’s the variety that keeps me sharp. One moment I’m working on high-level strategy, and the next I’m helping colleagues reach their goals. No two days are ever the same.

Security awareness is a hot topic, and rightly so. This field is constantly evolving, and its social impact is both significant and tangible. I love that our platform helps organisations become truly resilient against digital threats. Not by ticking boxes, but by driving genuine awareness and lasting behavioural change.

What do you enjoy about working at Awaretrain?

Awaretrain is made up of a young, enthusiastic team. What I really appreciate is how motivated everyone is. You can feel the passion people have for helping our clients build a culture of information awareness. We work together as a team, all bringing our own unique strengths to the table. That kind of energy is truly inspiring.

How do you spend your free time?

For the past five years I’ve been really into fitness and healthy living, especially running and strength training. I also love dining out with family and friends, ideally with a lovely glass of wine to match the meal.
