In our ‘Meet the Team’ series, we usually shine a spotlight on our newest colleagues. Fresh faces, fresh stories. But what about the valued team members who’ve been part of Awaretrain for years? In the coming weeks, we’ll not only be introducing you to our newest hires, but also to our seasoned, trusted colleagues. First up in the spotlight: Nader Ghanem!
I’m Nader Ghanem, 33 years old. I originally come from the charming town of Menzel Bourguiba in Tunisia, but these days I call Apeldoorn my home. I live there with my wife and daughter—who, by the way, already beats me at board games.
At Awaretrain, I wear two hats: developer and scrum master. For me, it’s the perfect combination of the things I enjoy most. One day I’m building exciting features with our fantastic development team, and the next I’m helping us stick to our planning (and occasionally reminding everyone what day of the sprint it is).
Before Awaretrain, I worked for a company in Waalwijk. It was a great place to work, but with a young family, the long commute started eating up more time than my actual to-do list. That’s when a recruiter reached out to me about a role at Awaretrain. After a good conversation, I immediately felt a connection. Now, a year and a half later, I can say with confidence that my gut feeling was right—this is where I’m meant to be.
As a software engineer, I love turning great ideas into code that actually helps people. Being able to do that in the field of information security adds an extra layer of purpose and fulfilment. What we build really makes a difference in people’s lives and in the way organisations protect themselves.
The work environment here is truly something special, and I mean that in the best way possible. I still remember being a little nervous on my first day. After all, I come from a different country and a different culture. But from day one, I felt welcome and at ease. Feeling valued and knowing my work truly makes a difference says a lot about how well we collaborate as a team.
I’m a gamer at heart, though these days I’m mostly busy “playing” the role of dad. My spare time is filled with games, giggles and quality time with my daughter. I also love travelling and discovering new places, especially if they involve great food and hidden gems.
